Admission to weaker and disadvantaged groups in the academic year 2026-27 under RTE Act-2009
Announcement of admission to standard-1
The Gujarat government has implemented a scheme to provide free admission to 25% of the children belonging to weaker and disadvantaged groups in unaided private primary schools under section 12 (1) A of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act-2009. Only those children who have completed six years on 1st June-2026 and have the priority shown below are eligible for admission under this scheme as per the priority order.

Child labourers/children of migrant labourers
Children with mental retardation/cerebral palsy, children with special needs/physically handicapped and all disabled children as mentioned in section 34 (1) of the Disabled Act-2016 (as per the notification of the Education Department dated 28/05/2025, children of this category will be eligible for a maximum relaxation of four years.)
Children taking (ART) Anti-Retroviral Therapy (AIT) treatment
Children of military/paramilitary/police personnel martyred in the line of duty
8 Daughters whose parents have only one child and that child is only a daughter
0 to 20 Children from BPL families of all categories (SC, ST, SEBC, General and others) with marks
10 Children from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories
Children from Socially and Educationally Backward Classes / Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) / Nomadic and Scheduled Caste children.
Children from Nomadic and Scheduled Caste children in these categories will be given first priority in admission.

Note Priority (8). For children falling in (10), (11), (12) and (13), as per the letter of the Education Department dated 13/03/2025, an annual income limit of Rs. 6.00 lakhs will be applicable for both rural and urban areas. Category priority for admission. Admission will be given considering the priority of income, priority of the school chosen by the parent, etc.
To get admission, the child's parents can fill the admission form on the website https://rte.orpgujarat.com from 04/04/2026, Saturday to 17/04/2026, Friday. All the necessary details regarding this, such as which supporting documents and which authority are to be submitted along with the application, have been placed on the website.

The necessary period has been kept between the date of admission announcement and the date of online application so that the applicant can collect the necessary supporting documents and submit the online application within the deadline. The guardian will have to upload the necessary supporting documents like proof of date of birth, proof of residence, proof of caste/category, income certificate from the competent authority, income tax return, and in case the income tax return is not filed, self-declaration regarding non-income subject to income tax (where applicable) etc. while filling the online form. The guardian will have to keep the printout of the online form with him. The form filled online will not have to be submitted anywhere.
