Gujarat State Eligibility Test 2026


On behalf of the State of Gujarat, the Nodal Agency, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, hereby announces the conduct of the 20th Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET) in 36 subjects at 12 centres across the State of Gujarat on Sunday, 29th November 2026, to determine the eligibility of candidates from Gujarat State for the post of Assistant Professor in Universities and Colleges of the State of Gujarat.

Before paying the fee and filling the online application form, the candidate should read all the information and instructions in this information booklet carefully and ensure that he/she is eligible to appear for the examination. Candidates who do not follow the instructions will be disqualified.

The reservation policy for GSET examination will be as per the Government of Gujarat.  Candidates must ensure that their application for GSET contains the necessary certificates issued by the State of Gujarat only in support of their claims. The category-wise qualifying slots will be based on the existing reservation policy of the State of Gujarat for admission to higher education.

SEBC candidates should ensure that the NCL (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate is recent and valid. OBC certificate of the Central Government will not be accepted from SEBC candidates from the State of Gujarat.

General-EWS candidates should ensure that the EWS certificate is recent and valid.



Candidates belonging to the reserved category of other states, i.e. candidates belonging to the reserved category other than the State of Gujarat, will be treated as General category candidates. Only candidates who are permanent residents of the State of Gujarat can avail the benefit of reservation. Therefore, candidates belonging to the reserved category of other states must select the General category in their online application form. Failure to do so will be considered an offence.  The result of GSET is provisional (subject to conditions), and if by mistake such candidates pass under the reserved category, they will be declared as failed.

Both Free Fee Payment (Step-1) and Online Registration (Step-2) are mandatory for GSET Examination.

The candidate should not send the printout of the online application, fee receipt or any certificate of eligibility for the examination to the Gujarat SET Office, Vadodara.

In case the candidate passes the GSET examination, documents related to educational qualification and category, mark sheets, certificates etc. along with the application form and examination hall ticket are mandatory.
